| School financing, teacher quality in spotlight at ECB conference Media Release January 18, 2006 ALBANY, N.Y. January 18, 2007 — More than 200 education policymakers will today examine trends in school financing and teacher quality at a second annual policy conference sponsored by the Educational Conference Board. ECB, a coalition of major state education organizations, said the conference, being held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today at the Crowne Plaza in Albany, focuses on Public Education in the New World Economy. Among the highlights are an 11:30 a.m. session on Trends in School Finance around the Country, which will look at how New York's CFE case compares to similar lawsuits around the country. At 1:30 p.m., a panel of academics will present on Closing the Achievement Gap: The Role of Teachers. ECB comprises the eight major statewide education organizations representing parents, teachers, school board members, superintendents, school business officials, principals and other building administrators. |
