The Educational Conference Board is donating $2,000 to the New York State Technical and Education Assistance Center for Homeless Students (NYS-TEACHS) to help students affected by Hurricane Katrina who have recently arrived in New York state.

NYS-TEACHS is a New York State Education Department grant funded project under the Stewart B. McKinney Homeless Children and Youth Program. The Center currently assists school districts across New York State with technical assistance to establish equitable education services for students affected by homelessness.

The Center will use the funds from ECB to assist students fleeing the devastation of Hurricane Katrina, making sure the students have what they need to attend school here in New York state.

ECB comprises the eight major statewide education organizations representing parents, teachers, school board members, superintendents, school business officials and other administrators.
