Mr. Pattison spent many years in public service prior to joining the State Comptroller's Office. He was mayor of the City of Troy, N.Y., from 1996 through 2003. He served as president of the City of Troy's school board, president of Vanderheyden Hall, vice chair of the Rensselaer County Regional Chamber of Commerce, and president of the New York State Association of Community and Residential Agencies. Mr. Pattison worked at the Rensselaer County Chapter of the Association for Retarded Citizens for 20 years, including 12 years as its director. Mr. Pattison studied political science, economics, and urban policy at the State University of New York at Oswego. He has a Master's Degree in Organization and Management from Antioch University. He was a trustee and faculty member of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy and has served on several community boards, including the Center for Economic Growth and the Commission for Economic Opportunity. Districts Suffer Crisis in Public Confidence Mark Pattison, Deputy Comptroller for Local Government Services and Economic Development for the Office of the New York State Comptroller, discussed the crisis in public confidence in public education. He mentioned that the comptroller's office will be conducting audits around the state and will be looking to strengthen internal audits of districts. Mr. Pattison also talked about training school officials in fiduciary responsibility. |
